The Plett Arts Association is a collective of local artists who come together for art exhibitions, outdoor painting sessions (weather permitting), art demos, markets and Art in the Park.
Activities have been very quiet during the Covid period, but nevertheless, the local artists have kept the fires burning through the power of WhatsApp and Facebook, and are getting ready for the Plett Arts Festival.
This website for the Plett Arts Association, designed by Debra de Villiers (www.dimension-design.com), will enable artists to showcase their artworks online.
The Plettenberg Bay Arts Association was founded more than 30 years ago, by Menno Hiemstra, of the Harkerville Saturday Market fame.
During the 90s, Joy Robin took over the reins when Menno and Wil relocated to Johannesburg. Joy acted as chair lady for over 20 years!
After retiring to Cape Town, Steven Rado became chairman for four years, during which time, he gave the Art Association an opportunity to have a successful gallery at Global Village plus the opportunity to exhibit our art at the Harkerville Saturday Market. When he decided to emigrate to the UK, Tracey Mae was appointed chair lady in Oct 2018.
With an influx of exciting new artists, she organized very professional exhibitions with her expertise and ability. In 2021 Tracey stood down to follow her personal path and nominated Jill Forbes to take over the reins!!!!

We would love to continue with our demonstrations held on the second week of the month given by one of the local artists which inspires all of the artists as well as the beginners.

We also arrange outdoor painting sessions (weather permitting).
The Harkerville Market provides an opportunity to put your art out there on Saturday Mornings. Global Village and Tniqua Stables off the Airport Road, have given us the opportunities to have permanent gallery space and also to attend their Art in the Park Weekends
The Association usually takes part in a few exhibitions during the year, and is also involved with the annual Plett Art Festival.
There will be a permanent exhibition at T’niqua Stables, off the Airport Road, and also at Global Village in the future.
The Knysna Art Society is creating a Garden Route Art Ramble and have invited us to join the ramble, with all the Arty Venues on the way.
